2nd Annual It's Always Deeper Dinner

Programs

Its Always Deeper Annual Dinner

Last year (2023), Dominos sponsored our 1st Annual Deeply Rooted Dinner to help us celebrate local foods as chef Mercedies (Savor Red), Alexandrea Monet (Mag Creates), and Harriette Brown (Chef Bee of Sisters on a Roll Mobile Cafe) prepared meats from Mshko'ode Farms with Ziibimiigwang value added products & produce along side Rescue MI Nature naturally grown herbs & produce. Each food provider received a $250 honorarium for preparing the shared community dinner enjoyed by over 30 attendees.

This year (2024), we will be hosting it at our home farm in October 2024 to bring full circle the work have been doing over the years. We are currently looking for donors and sponors to purchase tables and chairs for the event and future events to come. Please contact Dazmonique Carr at 313-949-3226 for inquires or make a direct donation to Deeply Rooted Gardens Inc. by mailing a check to 14884 Young St. Detroit, MI 48205 addressed to Deeply Rooted Gardens Inc.

Mama's Moments: Fish Preservation

In this class (October 2024), we showed 3 mothers & their children how to prepare lake trout in three different ways--pressure canning, vacuum sealing + freezing, & smoking. After preserving the fish, we course enjoyed fresh trout of our own baked with Sweet Lorraine's BBQ sauce & Ziibimijwang maple syrup. Gratitude to Mshko'ode for providing the fish and being a consistent supporter of our work!
