Dazmonique Carr started this journey when she saw a need to increase student access to healthier eating on Wayne State University's campus in Detroit, Michigan.
She was an undergraduate student majoring in Kinesiology: Exercise & Sports Science and minoring in Nutrition & Food Science in 2016 when she often wondered where to source the nutrients she was learning about. She then was introduced to urban gardening by Stathis Pauls, started volunteering for Keep Growing Detroit and the rest was history.
This volunteerism turned into a drive to increase access to the foods that organizations and farmers like Keep Growing Detroit were producing thus Deeply Rooted Produce was developed.
