In solidarity, we celebrate Black History Month with our comrades of food sovereignty
and black economic empowerment by promoting the role of food in nourishing and empowering the Black family - past, present, and future. We realized that there are no celebrations of the food of the Diaspora here in Detroit and it is time change that! Taste the Diaspora Detroit (TDD) is this epic, month-long exploration and sensory experience in preserving culture and community, celebrating our heritage, and showcasing local Black chefs, farmers, and makers through the Taste the Diaspora Shoebox Lunch initiative. Produce and products featured here are Afro-centric (and/or made by Black hands) and regionally grown/produced near (if not in) Michigan & organically sourced when possible.
